The Kittery School District is currently seeking an Educational Technician III to support students with academic and/or behavioral challenges at Mitchell School (Grades PK-3) as part of the MTSS model.
Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities
Maintain confidentiality of all students, family and employee related information
Meet with administrators and/or academic coaches regularly to share information and discuss student progress.
Review and reinforce learning previously introduced by the teachers; may introduce new learning planned by certified teachers under indirect supervision
Lead small group academic and behavioral instruction under indirect supervision of administrators and certified teachers.
Support inclusive learning and social opportunities for students throughout the school day
Administers and assists instructional staff with mandated test programs and/or subjects specific assignments for the purpose of assessing student competency levels and/or developing individual learning plans.
Maintain appropriate certification.
Maintains and applies current best practices to support students’ math, literacy and behavior goals in alignment with school-wide expectations and instructional frameworks.
Exhibit positive language and behavior skills as a model for children and families
Participate in required trainings as assigned
Perform any other appropriate duties the administrator deems necessary
Minimum Qualifications
Obtain and maintain authorization as an Ed Tech III per Chapter 115 of the Maine Department of Education
Document successful completion of at least three years of post-secondary education or 90 credit hours approved study in a related area
Successful background, criminal records, fingerprinting and reference check
Required Knowledge, Abilities and Skills
Experience with students ages 4-10
Knowledge of early literacy and math skills preferred. Ability to assist with behavior plans put in place by certified teachers.
Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) certification preferred including de-escalation and physical management techniques (Training will be provided if not currently certified)
Working knowledge of child development, disabilities, family systems and intervention methods
Exhibit a positive professionalism with supervisors, co-workers, students, parents and community
Interact with a wide variety of people
Provide individual and group services in a variety of settings and models
Establish an effective rapport/relationship with children and parents
Work collaboratively as a member of an early childhood team
Effectively communicate - orally and in writing
Maintain composure in stressful situations
Demonstrate flexibility, adaptability, and ability to take initiative
