Sports Play-by- Play / On-Air Announcer

Mitchell Media Group, a subsidiary of Saga Communications, owns the top radio brands in Mitchell, South Dakota. We’re known for being “Live and Local” and delivering the area’s best music, news, weather, and sports coverage.

KMIT is looking for a dynamic, driven, and versatile media professional to serve as our Afternoon On-Air Host and do play-by-play for the Mitchell Kernels.

This is a unique, high-impact role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, community-focused environment and is well versed in radio, digital, and social platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

On-Air Content Creation

Digital/Social Content Creation

Host a daily on-air shift (afternoons)

Represent the station at events, remotes, and in the community

Assist with commercial production and promotions

Lead local high school sports coverage

Provide play-by-play for football and basketball

Produce pre-game and post-game shows

Work with local schools and coaches

Work closely with sales, broadcast, and digital teams

Contribute to sponsored and community-focused content initiatives

Qualifications

3–5 years of experience in broadcasting and play-by-play

Strong on-air skills

Social media proficiency and audience engagement skills
