We are seeking a highly motivated individual with proven technical problem-solving skills, proficiency in SolidWorks 3D modeling and project management to be based at our Springfield, Massachusetts facility. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing advanced mechanical and system designs, maintaining project schedule and budgets, and ensuring compliance with customer requirements and industry standards. As the lead Design Engineer on a range of custom machinery, you will be managing projects from the initial concept stage through design modelling, equipment manufacture, and testing. Reporting directly to the president, this position requires regular interaction with customers, Mitchell Machine colleagues, and vendors to support our mission: Providing innovative machinery solutions to support our customers’ manufacturing goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Engineering calculations to determine design sizing and specification of commercial components and subsystems.
- Develop detailed mechanical and system designs using SolidWorks 3D and generating detailed manufacturing and assembly drawings.
- Design of electric, pneumatic, and/or hydraulic motion systems.
- Compliance with customer specifications, sales quotes, and machine budgets.
- Project management of design and manufacturing efforts through customer FAT.
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to optimize designs for manufacturability/cost.
- Occasional USA travel for Project meetings or Machinery startups at customer sites.
Qualifications
- BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum (3) years in a Machine design and manufacturing environment.
- Project management experience preferred.
- Strong professional communication and presentation skills.
- Innovative approach to problem-solving and the ability to thrive in a results-based environment.
- Must be a US citizen and have a valid driver's license.
Pay: $75,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
