What are the responsibilities and job description for the Junior High English/Language Arts Teacher position at Mitchell Jr./Sr. High?
Due to retirement, Mitchell Public School is seeking an English/Language Arts (ELA) teacher for the middle school levels for the 2026-2027 school year. This position includes teaching English/Grammar/Writing skills to grades 7 and 8. This has traditionally been three periods of each grade level, with class sizes kepts small (max average size of 17 students).

Starting date will be Aug. 10th. Mitchell Public Schools has a 4 1/2 student week with 12:30 outs on Fridays. Half of these early outs are dedicated to staff development (3:00 out) and half are a 1:00 out for teachers. Mitchell offers a 184-day teacher contract and 177-student contact days.
Additonal extra curricular offerings include (but are not required): Journalism (Jr./Sr. High book w/High School students in class)
Mitchell offers all teaching staff the opportunity to participate in the BCBS insurance program with a low $650 deductible. The district pays for 1/2 of a single policy with a $19,300 flat salary (26-27 school year) which may be applied to remaining insurance needs or may be simply adiditonal pay. Mitchell honors additoinal years of service (up to retirement) and educational levels.
