JOB DESCRIPTION
Position: Delivery Supervisor
Reports To: Delivery Manager
Starting Pay: $72,000 per annum
Schedule: Monday-Friday 6:00AM - 4:00PM
Job Summary
The Delivery Supervisor is responsible for leading the daily operations of the delivery team to ensure efficient, on-time, and professional service to customers. This position supports team development, safety compliance, route optimization, and communication with internal departments. The Delivery Supervisor plays a critical role in promoting customer satisfaction and operational excellence, while ensuring team accountability, proper equipment use, and process adherence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervision and Team Development
- Assist the Operations Manager with recruitment efforts, including screening, interviewing, and scheduling candidates for delivery positions.
- Train and evaluate new employees for compliance with company policies, delivery processes, and safety standards.
- Provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback to delivery staff, including Route Assistants and Drivers.
- Assess team readiness and skill levels (e.g., assisting RA team members in acquiring Class D licenses and matching the best Driver/Helper combinations).
- Monitor team morale and enforce accountability standards.
- Operations Management
- Manage and report daily manpower status, including absences, route coverage, and workload distribution.
- Monitor and reduce overtime by improving delivery efficiency and rebalancing schedules when necessary.
- Ensure all delivery equipment is functional; escalate mechanical issues promptly to avoid delivery delays.
- Conduct vehicle audits to ensure cleanliness, maintenance, and safety compliance.
- Audit customer accounts for compliance with merchandising and market standards.
- Route and Logistics Coordination
- Assist with routing, re-routing, and sequencing of new and existing delivery routes for maximum efficiency.
- Communicate regularly with the Sales Department regarding pricing changes, display implementations, and delivery frequency.
- Support delivery operations in the field as needed to ensure service continuity or address critical issues.
- Implement special projects or process improvements; report outcomes and make recommendations based on findings.
- Administrative and Compliance Duties
- Ensure a safe and secure working environment in compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Review, correct, and approve subordinate timecards at the end of each pay period prior to Payroll deadlines.
- Submit all relevant payroll items (bonuses, incentives, commissions, etc.) in accordance with published Payroll Department deadlines.
- Report any workplace accidents or injuries to management and Human Resources immediately, or no later than the end of the shift if immediate reporting is not possible.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Excellent interpersonal and team leadership skills
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities
- Conflict resolution and coaching experience
- Strong time management and prioritization skills
- Basic proficiency in computer systems and Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically active environment
- Knowledge of DOT and safety compliance standards (preferred)
Education and Experience Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (required); some college coursework or business training (preferred)
- Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required
- Minimum 2–3 years of supervisory or route management experience (preferred)
- Experience in logistics, warehouse, or distribution operations a plus
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
- Ability to lift, carry, and move products weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching
- Regular exposure to warehouse and retail environments
- Must be available to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, or weekends as needed
- On-call availability for operational or delivery emergencies
