The Business
Our client is an independent, regional truss and components manufacturer with $30M in revenue and an aggressive growth trajectory. They're expanding their footprint to continue building long-term partnerships with multifamily developers and production builders and delivering best in class solutions.
The Opportunity
As the Design Manager, you will lead a team of 6 designers and build the foundation for how the design function operates and contributes to the business. This role is about more than managing day-to-day workflows. You will write the playbook, set the standards, and create a culture of continuous improvement where your team develops and delivers consistently at a high level.
You will work directly with the President and have meaningful input on pricing strategy, process improvements, and growth initiatives. You will collaborate closely with sales and operations, which means your decisions will directly influence how design drives revenue and shapes customer relationships.
This role requires implementing comprehensive quality control measures, establishing KPIs, standardizing the design process, and driving effective change management across the team. As the business grows, so will this role, offering significant opportunities for professional growth.
What You Will Need to Be Successful
- Design Leadership & Team Development: Proven ability to lead, train, and develop designers
- Technical Foundation with Software Versatility: Solid background in roof and floor design with experience across multiple software platforms (MiTek, Simpson, or similar)
- Process & Quality Systems Implementation: Track record of implementing design standards, SOPs, and QA/QC processes. Ability to establish KPIs and drive continuous improvement
- Project Management & Execution: Strong organizational skills with the ability to build systems, manage workflows, and execute at a high level
