Mistral, Inc., a member of the Mistral Group, a team of independent companies, each operating in different markets worldwide, while collectively sharing the mission of "Bridging" operational gaps in the Defense and Law Enforcement markets with practical, innovative, and high readiness solutions.
Mistral is seeking a Controller to oversee the company’s day-to-day accounting. The Controller will serve as a crucial part of the accounting management team responsible for managing the accounting staff, owning the general ledger and month-end close process, and driving operational efficiency within the accounting function. The Controller will collaborate closely with senior leadership to support financial decision-making and maintain the integrity of financial records. This is a full-time, on-site position at our Bethesda, MD headquarters.
In addition, the Controller will be part of the Company compliance team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Accounting Operations & General Ledger Management:
- Responsibility for the company’s accounting and financial records, ensuring accuracy, completeness and timeliness.
- Oversee AP/AR operations to ensure timely payments and collections.
- Assist with payroll processing
- Oversee month-end, quarter-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations, journal entries, and account analysis.
- Ensure all accounting operations are efficient, accurate, and auditable, and compliant with GAAP and SEC requirements.
Audit & Internal Controls:
- Maintain and monitor robust internal controls over financial reporting to meet SOX compliance standards.
- Coordinate with external auditors during quarterly and annual audits, including preparation of schedules, reconciliations, and responses to inquiries.
- Ensure timely remediation of any audit findings.
Process Improvement & Operational Efficiency
- Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and implement best practices to increase efficiency and accuracy.
- Lead ERP or accounting system upgrades and ensure integration with other business systems.
Stakeholder Communication:
Reporting financial information to the CEO, CFO, senior management, and other stakeholders.
Team Management:
Overseeing the day-to-day accounting operation and staff and ensuring efficient workflow within the accounting department.
REPORTING:
- The selected Controller will report to the VP/Director of Accounting
- This role will have direct reports
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
- Must be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
- At least 7 years’ experience in managing corporate accounting. Knowledge and experience in accounting for manufacturing/production processes is a significant advantage.
- Experience at a publicly traded company is required.
- Familiarity with ERP software, MS NAV, accounting software, human resources software, and other financial tools.
- A master’s degree is preferred.
Salary : $120,000 - $150,000
