REPORTS TO: Hotel F&B Supervisor SALARY: $17.89

Position Summary
Banquet captains are responsible for supervising the staff, operations, and guests of banquet experiences at restaurants, hotels, or private functions. Their duties include planning dining events, managing the food and beverage service, and tending to guests' requests and complaints. Banquet captain must have great communications skills and be able to work through adversity in a calm professional manner.

- Must be willing to work with all regulatory agencies, i.e., Gaming Commission, State, and Federal.
- Must learn and ensure policies and procedures are being followed per the departments' Internal Controls.
- Must adhere to the Mistequa Casino Hotel Team member Handbook.
- Must adhere to our SMILE service standards and Core Values by providing excellent guest service. Maintain a positive and productive attitude with guests as well as fellow team members. Monitor team members within the department to ensure SMILE service standards and Core Values are being executed.
- Assisting managers and organizers with planning the layout and logistics of events.
- Organize pre-shift meetings to ensure events flow smoothly.
- Developing and providing staff with the necessary training, including customer service and serving etiquette.
- Welcoming guests upon their arrival and assisting them with their seating arrangements.
- Organizing and actively participating with the set-up of events. Supervising the staff and setting timetables.
- Running the floor and coordinating the food and drink service by liaising with the kitchen and service staff.
- Monitoring the inventory of supplies, equipment, and furniture.
- Tending to guests' requests, questions, and complaints.
- Ensuring that the venue and facilities remain neat and clean.
- Ensuring that all applicable sanitation and safety regulations are communicated and adhered to.
- Coordinates with Maintenance Supervisor and Housekeeping Supervisor to establish maintenance, repair, and cleaning schedules for banquet equipment and facilities.
- Must be able to work shift work, holidays, weekends, and special events.
- Other duties as assigned.
Must Have Ability To
- Communicate effectively with all levels of team members, guests, and outside contacts.
- Work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Move around all work areas effectively and efficiently.
- Able to work periodically under conditions of extreme urgency (creating higher levels of job stress).
- Must be 21 years of age.
- Have a minimum of 1 year of experience in a banquet-related position.
- High school diploma or (GED) preferred. Cash handling experience preferred.
- Excellent guest service skills.
- Ability to be a team player.
- Ability to work independently and use good judgment.
- Must obtain a food handlers card within 30 days of employment and keep it current.
- Must obtain a Class 12 servers permit and keep it current.

- Must be 18 years of age to obtain and maintain a License D with Spokane Tribal Gaming Commission.
- Attend required training sessions offered by the Casinos.
- Perform the duties described in compliance with local laws and regulations.
- Have knowledge of the ordinances, regulations, laws, policies, and procedures relating to the team member's department.
- Consult Internal Control Procedures and Policy Manuals for guidance.
- Report illegal activity to Security or the appropriate levels of Management.
