What are the responsibilities and job description for the OPEN RANK NTT TEACHING PROFESSOR - Earth Sciences and Engineering position at Missouri University of Science and Technology?

The Department of Earth Sciences and Engineering (ESE) at the Missouri University of Science and Technology (S&T) invite applications for an Open Rank Teaching Professor (non-tenure track) position in Geospatial Engineering to begin in January or August 2026. The primary responsibility of the successful candidate is to support a recently established Master’s degree in Geospatial Engineering. This position will be filled at the Assistant Teaching, Associate Teaching, or Full Teaching Professor level. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The applicant for this position will teach a variety of geospatial courses, potentially including but not limited to GIS, intro and advanced courses on Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT), Lidar Principles and Applications, and Remote Sensing. Applicants should be prepared to teach geospatial courses with an emphasis on geoscience and engineering applications. Courses will be offered in both in-person and on-line formats.

Qualifications


The educational requirements may be met through a Ph.D. in geological engineering, geomatics engineering, geophysics, geodesy, civil engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, geography, geospatial or geological sciences, or another closely related discipline, or through a M.S. in one of the above fields with 15 or more years of related industry experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Evidence of successful teaching and significant experience in either industry or academia are desired.

COLLEGE of ENGINEERING & COMPUTING (CEC)

Missouri S&T’s College of Engineering and Computing is the largest of three colleges at S&T, accounting for approximately 80% of the total enrollment (about 4,500 undergraduates and 800 graduate students).
