Job Title:
Sunday AV Lead - Part-Time: Sundays Wednesday Rehearsal
Supervision:
The Sunday AV Lead will report to the AV/Events Coordinator
Position Summary:
The Sunday AV Lead supports the worship and music ministries by operating and overseeing the technical elements of the 9:30 and 11:00 Sunday services and the Wednesday evening band rehearsal. This role works closely with trained volunteers for slides, lighting, and cameras, while serving as the primary sound engineer and technical point person on Sundays. The Sunday AV Lead ensures that services run smoothly, audio mixes are of high quality, and any technical issues are addressed quickly and calmly.
Though not responsible for recruiting or scheduling volunteers, the Sunday AV Lead encourages and supports them and functions as the technical lead during worship services.
Sunday Morning Responsibilities: 8:00 AM – 12:15 PM
- Serve as the primary sound engineer for the 9:30 and 11:00 services
- Function as the primary technical decision-maker, troubleshooting audio, video, lighting, and network issues during Sunday services
- Operate and oversee:
- - Main audio mix for in-room and streaming audio mix through OBS for YouTube
- - Coordination with volunteers operating slides, lighting, and PTZ cameras
- Support and encourage volunteers on slides, cameras, and lighting; assist with on-the-spot coaching as needed
- Review and follow any special instructions (extra mics, soloists, staging adjustments, etc.)
- Be available to cover the 8:00 service on rare occasions when the volunteer is absent
Wednesday Evening Responsibilities: 5:00–7:00 PM
- Attend and mix sound for the band rehearsal
- Confirm lyric slide accuracy in ProPresenter based on the version/arrangement being used
- Address basic technical needs; band is otherwise self-sufficient
Technical Skills & Systems
The ideal candidate has experience with or the ability to learn:
Audio
- Managing multiple microphones (choir, organ, 6-piece band, vocalists)
- Basic gain staging, EQ, mixing, and troubleshooting
Video
- Operation of three remote PTZ cameras
- Monitoring and switching camera feeds for in-room and online worship
Streaming
- OBS Studio and streaming to YouTube
Lighting
- Obsidian NX lighting control system
Presentation
- ProPresenter for lyric slides, sermon support, and media cues
Basic Maintenance & Awareness
- Identify maintenance needs (damaged cables, loose connections, equipment anomalies)
- Maintain clean, organized AV workspace
Physical & Environmental Requirements
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods in a booth environment
- Comfortable working in a busy, collaborative worship setting
Non-Sunday Opportunities (optional)
- Christmas Eve services (highly desirable)
- Weddings and funerals
- Additional special events as available and mutually agreed upon

Hours:
Sundays 8:00 AM – 12:15 PM and Wednesdays 5:00 – 7:00 PM. This is a part-time position, subject to the personnel policies of the church for non-clergy employees. Any offer of employment is contingent upon candidate becoming Safe Gatherings-certified, as required by Missouri United Methodist Church’s Safe Gatherings policies.
