Summary/Objective
This position is responsible for item maintenance, prepares materials for library use, mends damaged materials, maintains inventory of supplies, maintains labels, and processes library materials. Works on public desks.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs item maintenance which includes creating new item records, transferring item records, correcting item record information, and marking records for deletion.
- Prepares materials for library use including applying cases, covers, stamps, and stickers.
- Mends damaged library materials, including replacing broken cases, reinforcing spines and covers.
- Keeps the supervisor informed of department supply needs by maintaining inventory of department supplies.
- Produces labels for general processing, special projects, etc.
- Check donated materials in the automation system for matching title records to affix an item record or to send materials to catalogers.
- Will assist with end of year expedited processing for annual audit.
- Assists with answering basic procedural questions from coworkers.
- Works at public service desks and assists patrons as needed.
- May work with volunteers as requested by the supervisor, including assisting volunteers with physical processing, data entry, and matching donations to bibliographic records in catalog.
- May assist with checking in, shelving, and weeding periodicals.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Attends and participates in department and library staff meetings.
- May assist with opening and closing the library.

- Must have basic knowledge of operation of computers and be able to perform basic computer operations.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, printers, phones, photocopiers, cash registers, credit card machines, etc.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Generally 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday - Friday. This position will participate in the scheduled weekend work rotation.
Education/Experience
- High school diploma or G.E.D. required.
- Previous computer experience required.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
High degree of customer service skills to work with patrons of all ages, including special needs patrons and Library staff.
