What are the responsibilities and job description for the Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator position at Missouri River Energy Services?
This position comes with a high degree of responsibility for assisting in the operations and maintenance of the wastewater treatment plant and lift stations. Monitors the treatment process and performance of related equipment and makes necessary adjustments as indicated by current conditions. Preventive maintenance and repairs are executed on various pumps, blowers, chemical feeders, valves, piping and other equipment used to treat wastewater.
The work is performed both indoors and outdoors. The employee is exposed to noise, dust, machinery with moving parts, infectious diseases, raw sewage, hazardous chemicals, and occasional inclement weather. The work requires the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, or gloves.
Perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision. Interacting with other employees, customers and suppliers in a professional manner is essential. At times, this position works independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with staff. On-call duties are required after training period.
Education in the field of Mechanical or Engineering Technologies or a related field is preferred. Prior experience in the repair of machinery, equipment and/or operation of related water or wastewater treatment equipment is beneficial. Possession of or ability to obtain a Class A CDL, with an airbrake endorsement is required. State of SD Board of Operator Certification in wastewater within 18 months of employment.
WAGE: $25.84 minimum plus comprehensive benefit package including 100% employer paid employee health, dental and life insurance along with a 6% employer match to the South Dakota Retirement System and 12 paid holidays. Up to $2000 annually for educational reimbursement. Wage offer will be based upon actual education and experience.
