What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Billing Clerk position at MISSOURI HIGHLANDS HEALTH CARE?
The Billing Clerk will be directly supervised by the Billing Supervisor and will be ultimately responsible to the Chief Financial Officer.
- Will perform all billing and collection functions established by the Policies and Procedures of Missouri Highlands Health Care.
- Responsible for the billing of Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial Insurance, Workers Compensation claims and Self-pay patients with follow-up on all unpaid and delinquent accounts, on a timely basis.
- Must maintain current knowledge of all billing codes and procedures and their changes
- Must assure accuracy in the performance of all billing procedures.
- Will perform courtesy billing and assist patients in their questions regarding billing, when necessary.
- Should be able to perform all bookkeeping, accounts receivable, typing, filing, correspondence, monthly statements and other functions, as needed.
- Responsible for the cleanliness and orderliness of the billing area.
- Perform all other duties, as required.
- Experience in office work and dealing with the public, preferred.
- High school education or GED equivalent is required.
- It is preferred, but not mandatory, that the Billing Clerk have experience in the billing of Medicare, Medicaid and Commercial Insurances.
- Must have the ability to plan and organize assignments and be self-motivating.
- Ability to operate a computer and calculator with a high level of accuracy.
- Ability to communicate, effectively and pleasantly, with patients, office personnel and other members of the public.
- Ability and desire to learn new duties quickly and efficiently.
- Possess firm tact and patience in dealing with all people.
