Summary
The Accountant I is responsible for supporting daily accounting operations with a primary focus on Accounts Payable (AP) functions. This position ensures timely and accurate processing of invoices, expense reports, vendor payments, and financial records while maintaining compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and federal guidelines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Management of Accounts Payable – responsible for reviewing invoices for accuracy and completeness and to substantiate allowable business transactions and ensure correct allocation to federal and/or state grants and contracts.
- Process vendor invoices accurately and in a timely manner.
- Match purchase orders, receipts, and invoices to ensure proper authorization and coding.
- Prepare and process check runs, ACH payments, and wire transfers.
- Maintain vendor files, including W-9 documentation and payment information.
- Respond to vendor inquiries and resolve payment discrepancies professionally and promptly.
- Assist with month-end closing activities related to Accounts Payable.
- Responsible for keeping an up-to-date inventory of all office furnishings, equipment, and keys.
- Maintain accurate financial records in accordance with accounting policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- 0-3 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
