Position Title: Resource Family Coordinator

Location: Southwest Missouri (all MEP service counties)

Position Overview
The Resource Family Coordinator will lead foster parent recruitment, training, and retention efforts across all counties served by the Missouri Empowerment Project (MEP). This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining a pool of high-quality foster/resource parents by coordinating outreach activities, conducting state-required pre-service and ongoing training, and completing comprehensive home studies. The Resource Family Coordinator ensures that new and established foster/resource parents receive the tools, education, and support needed to provide safe, nurturing, and stable environments for children in care.
Key Responsibilities:Recruitment & Outreach
- Design and implement recruitment strategies to attract foster/resource parents across southwest Missouri.
- Collaborate with community partners, local organizations, and media outlets to promote the need for foster/resource families.
- Host informational meetings, community presentations, and recruitment events.

- Training & Support
- Facilitate required foster parent pre-service and in-service trainings in accordance with Department and state guidelines.
- Provide ongoing education and professional development opportunities for licensed resource parents.
- Support foster/resource families in navigating the licensing process and ongoing compliance requirements.
Assessment & Home Studies
- Conduct home studies and assessments for new and existing foster/resource parents.
- Prepare written assessments and recommendations in accordance with state and agency standards.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential records of training, assessments, and licensure documentation.
- Program Development & Compliance
- Ensure training curriculum aligns with state-approved models and contract requirements.
- Track data and outcomes related to foster parent recruitment, training, and retention.
- Collaborate with MEP leadership to ensure fidelity to state contracts and reporting obligations.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Two (2) years of experience working with children and families in the direct delivery of social services in a public or private agency, preferably in the fields of foster care or adoption, and
- One of the following:
- A Master’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or a closely related clinical field from an accredited college; or
- A Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related human service field from an accredited college, under the direct supervision of the agency administrator responsible for supervising personnel.
- Related human service fields may include professions focused on behavioral healthcare, vocational/educational counseling, or similar services.
Alternative Qualifications (Licensed Resource Parents):
- Current open resource home license issued by the State of Missouri;
- A minimum of five (5) years as a licensed resource parent;
- Completion of Department-required pre-service Train-the-Trainer training;
- Letter of recommendation from a Department trainer.
Preferred Skills & Competencies
- Experience in foster care or adoption recruitment and training.
- Strong communication, public speaking, and facilitation skills.
- Ability to write clear, detailed, and objective assessments.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
- Knowledge of child welfare systems, state licensing requirements, and trauma-informed care practices.
- Commitment to MEP’s mission of supporting families, strengthening communities, and improving outcomes for children.
Schedule: Must be able to work evenings and some weekend times to conduct training during a variety of times. Schedule can be flexible and based on staff needs
Travel Requirements: Must be able and willing to within the MEP service area to meet with foster families in their homes. This includes (Greene, Christian, Taney, Webster, Polk, Dallas, Laclede, Barry, Stone, Lawerence)
Salary: $42,000- $50,000 dependent on education and experience
