Founded in 2018, US Strategic Metals is a rapidly growing start-up and plays a key role in the domestic energy transition to electric vehicles. As the only vertically integrated producer of Cobalt and Nickel in the United States, USSM is strategically positioned to supply clean, domestic, and ethically sourced battery metals for lithium-ion batteries, which power electric vehicles and consumer electronics. Specifically, the Company focuses on extracting, recycling, and processing strategic metals for use in the high-performance battery market. USSM owns a historic mine in Fredericktown, Missouri, and is building a hydrometallurgical processing facility with the ability to convert both mined minerals and recycled battery material into salable battery metals.
Senior Chemist: Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Performing analytical laboratory test work to support the operations team
- Design, develop and implement new methods to improve the performance of the laboratory.
- Assist the QC manager with achieving quality standards in the laboratory
- Proficient with all laboratory techniques associated with mineral laboratories
- Ensure the laboratory is a clean, sterile, and safe working environment
- Ability to research and analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw valid conclusions
- Perform statistical analysis to review the performance of the laboratory regarding the quality, precision, and accuracy of the data
- Direct and assist the work of Chemists and contingent employees in standard and routine analytical techniques
- Capable of using LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) to import and export sample data for reporting
- Participate in ensuring good management of laboratory equipment and storage spaces for chemicals and raw materials
- Responsible for maintaining all instrumentation associated with the laboratory and improving the performance of these instruments were possible
- Prepare timely and accurate reports and deliver presentations on processes and projects to Laboratory Manager, Engineers, Metallurgists, and Management
- Other duties as assigned
