Job Description
The Education Department is currently seeking a qualified Assistant Professor to serve as a tenure track, nine-month faculty member in Education with an endorsement in Special Education or a related field. The successful candidate will teach 12 credit hours per semester at the undergraduate and/or graduate level, contributing to the department’s teaching, research, and service mission. The focus areas include Elementary /Secondary Education instruction, inclusive education, Special Education practices, instructional strategies, assessment, behavior management, and teacher preparation.
The Succcesful Candidate Will:
1. Develop and deliver curriculum that aligns with current research and best practices in Elementary/Secondary Education and Special Education.

3. Demonstrate commitment to professional growth, development, advisement, and mentor undergraduate and graduate students.
4. Conduct and publish research in areas related to Elementary/Secondary Education and Special Education.
5. Pursue external funding opportunities to support research and program development.
6. Participate in departmental and university committees and service activities.
7. Stay current with trends and legislation affecting Elementary/Secondary Education and Special Education.
8. Respond to the needs of students using a variety of teaching methods including new technologies
9. Attend classes regularly at designated places, provide quality instruction, document, and improve student learning through instruction and curriculum development
Required Qualifications
An earned doctorate (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in Education or Special Education or a closely related field by the start of the appointment. Candidates nearing completion of the doctorate (ABD) may be considered. The Candidate must possess at least three years of extensive teaching experience in Education and/or Special Education setting and demonstrate empathy and a passionate commitment for inclusive education. Possess effective communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Be knowledgeable of laws and regulations related to the field of Education and Special Education.
2. Develop, teach, and update undergraduate or graduate level courses related to Elementary/Secondary Education and Special Education.
3. Stay updated on latest and current trends, research, and best practices in Elementary/Secondary Education and Special Education to ensure teaching and research are aligned with the most effective instructional methods.
4. Experience working with K-12 schools or special education programs.
