What are the responsibilities and job description for the Adjunct Instructors of English position at Mississippi University for Women?
Essential Duties
- To teach face-to-face sections of EN 101, and possibly other classes as needed
- To provide a copy of the syllabus for each section to the department at a time prior to the first day of class
- To accurately report grades and attendance and meet all reporting deadlines
- To maintain regular online office hours and communicate with students outside of class
- MA in English or a related field
- PhD or ABD in English preferred
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work with students and colleagues
- Experience teaching the assigned course or courses at the undergraduate level preferred
- Availability to teach face-to-face classes in Columbus, Mississippi
The Department of Languages, Literature, and Philosophy anticipates the need for one or more part-time time-limited, non-tenure track positions in English. Adjunct instructors may be needed to teach courses, including EN 101, Composition I, and potentially other English course offerings that fit the candidate’s qualifications as needed by the department. Adjunct Instructors may teach up to two three-hour classes or the equivalent per semester.
