What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Technician position at Mississippi Steel Processing, LLC?
Maintenance Technician- Shifts: Monday - Friday 4pm - 2am, Thursday - Sunday 6am - 6pm
Summary- Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as electric motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, production machines and equipment by performing the following duties:
Duties:
- Observes mechanical equipment in operation to locate performance issues
- Dismantles equipment to gain access to and replace or repair defective parts
- Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections
- Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements when fitting new parts
- Adjusts functional parts of moving equipment and control instrumentation
- Repair or replace defective hydraulic valves, mechanical equipment, electrical components and other equipment as required
- Installs special functional and structural parts in machinery
- Perform Preventative Maintenance at regular intervals on mechanical parts and large equipment
-Follows all policies and procedures as outlines in the Employee Handbook and various other sources as they relate to the job function
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Understands machines and equipment with the ability to test operational function and performance
- Mechanical aptitude in working with a lathe, drill press, grinder, wrenches, and other mechanical tools to make and repair parts
- Proficient in troubleshooting techniques to repair electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment
- Proficient in SMAW and MIG welding
- Good adherence to strict safety guidelines and cognizant of safety risk
