The Assistant Athletics Director for Talent Management provides operational and financial support for Mississippi State Athletics. This position assists the Deputy AD for Talent Management with roster development and oversight, contract execution, and talent acquisition operations, while also coordinating revenue-sharing payment processing and reporting. The role ensures accurate and efficient execution of student-athlete roster management and financial operations and serves as a key liaison across Talent Management, the Athletics Business Office, sport staffs, Compliance and departmental leadership.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage daily operations and reporting related to student-athlete revenue sharing.
  • Lead budgeting, accounting and financial reporting related to revenue sharing and NIL.
  • Assist Deputy AD for Talent Management and sport staff with roster planning and management, modeling financial and roster implications of future signing classes in conjunction with retention objectives.
  • Perform data capture, analysis and visualization pertinent to roster development and management decisions.
  • Assist Deputy AD for Talent Management in the development and reporting of metrics on valuations, sport accountability and athlete performance.
  • Manage student-athlete contract execution, tracking and retention.
  • Manage CAPS system, including rosters and revenue-sharing allocations.
  • Coordinate student-athlete revenue-sharing payments through payment processor, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and compliance.
  • Support talent acquisition planning and negotiations as directed by the Deputy AD for Talent Management.
  • Maintain accurate records for all contracts, rosters and revenue-sharing payments.
  • Manage and document all Talent Management workflows.
  • Work closely with Athletics leadership and external partners to support NIL-related strategies, activations and operations as directed by the Deputy AD for Talent Management.
  • Stay updated on national trends, cap projections and rule changes.
  • Assist Deputy AD for Talent Management and Deputy AD/CFO on special projects as assigned.
  • Ensure compliance with NCAA, CSC, SEC, University and state regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility
  • This position may supervise select staff, interns, and student workers.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Statistics, Data Science, Sports Administration or related field with 3 years of experience in Athletics Administration, financial operations, statistics, or related area.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in Business, Statistics, Data Science or Sports Administration.
  • Experience with data capture, wrangling, analysis and visualization.
  • Experience with student-athlete contracts or roster management systems.
  • Familiarity with NCAA, CSC, and SEC compliance rules related to financial aid and revenue sharing.
  • Experience with Paycom, Teamworks or similar rev share/payroll/HRIS software.

  • Knowledge of financial reporting, payroll processing, and account reconciliation
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with a full range of internal and external constituents.
  • Ability to manage technology platforms and integrate new platforms
  • Ability to manage operational processes with attention to accuracy and compliance.
  • Ability to communicate with various constituents, including coaches and administrators.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort
  • Frequent external deadlines imposed, set and revised beyond one’s control; interruptions influence priorities; difficult to anticipate nature or volume of work with certainty beyond a few days; meeting of deadlines and coordination of unrelated activities are key to position; involves conflict-resolution or similar interactions involving emotional issues or stress on a regular basis.
  • Could involve lifting, bending or other physical exertion. Frequent exposure to one or more elements such as heat, cold, noise, dirt, chemicals, etc. are possible.
  • Job frequently requires walking, standing, lifting, sitting, reaching, talking, hearing, and handling objects with hands.
  • Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
