About the Position
**This is a time-limited (NS-14) position with Mississippi Public Broadcasting in Hinds County** Mississippi Public Broadcasting is seeking a Traffic Control Supervisor responsible for the administration and leadership of the Traffic Control Department. This department includes MPB’s Network Operations Center, MPB-TV Master Control, and Traffic for both MPB-TV and Radio, as well as management of media assets, content presentation, and platform delivery for the organization. The staff is comprised of one full-time Master Control Manager, two Master Control Operators, and Traffic Administrators for both Television and Radio. The Traffic Control Supervisor will report to the Director of Technical Services (CTO) and undertake the following duties: • Supervises the downloading of content, scheduling recordings, and ingests media into the video storage server for playout. • Serves as the team lead project coordinator for prioritizing tasks for each phase of work, requisitions of materials and supplies, and inventory. • Monitors transmitter sites and the network remote control system and responds to any alerts by activating technical support staff. • Supervises video, audio, and captioning of quality control checks on all media delivered for playout. • Supervises the operation of the Broadstream automation system and presentation control for all MPB air channels. • Monitors on-air and distribution platforms for quality and service reliability. • Supervises lower-level employees’ work assignments and schedules to maintain staffing and provide training and mentorship. • Participate in operational administration regarding recommendations for outside contractors and bids for approval. • Supervises the management for video storage, deletion, and purging of content under the direction of the Traffic Manager. • Supervises the delivery of content to MPB streaming and video-on-demand platforms. • Manages the feed and source routing for production support. • Provides discrepancies report and liaises with Traffic for any issues involving missing media or automation log irregularities. • Administer EAS routines such as required weekly and monthly testing and record keeping. • Work collaboratively with department heads to coordinate the creation of new media assets, live or post-production, content recording, storage, and platform delivery strategies. • Assist Underwriting and Programming staff with bookings, schedule changes, and customization, as well as provide advice on content placement and presentation elements. • Advise on media branding and guiding the creative style and presentation of our broadcast, streaming, and video-on-demand content. Preferred Qualifications
Typically requires completion of an apprenticeship program in the trade area and 2-4 years of experience. Hiring agency's preferred qualifications: Associate's degree in Electronics or Video Production or High School Diploma and 5 years of industry experience.
