Building Inspector

Job Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Building Inspector to ensure the safety, quality, and compliance of construction projects. The ideal candidate will possess strong analysis skills and a thorough understanding of construction processes, quality control standards, and inspection protocols. This role involves evaluating construction sites, reviewing blueprints and schematics, and ensuring adherence to building codes and contractual specifications. The Building Inspector will play a vital role in maintaining high standards across construction projects, contributing to safe and efficient building practices.

Duties

• Conduct comprehensive inspections of construction sites to verify compliance with building codes, safety regulations, and project specifications.
• Review blueprints, schematics, and construction plans to ensure accuracy and adherence to design intent.
• Perform quality control checks throughout various phases of construction, including foundation, framing, electrical, plumbing, and finishing work.
• Collect data related to construction progress, quality issues, and safety concerns for reporting purposes.
• Analyze inspection findings to identify potential issues or deviations from plans and specifications.
• Collaborate with construction management teams to address deficiencies or non-compliance issues promptly.
• Document inspection results thoroughly and prepare detailed reports for stakeholders.
• Monitor adherence to contracts and project timelines while ensuring work meets established standards.
• Conduct site visits regularly to oversee ongoing work and verify that construction practices align with approved plans.
• Collaborates and assists team members as needed and directed to include answering phones and assisting citizens when necessary.

Requirements

• Proven experience in construction inspection or related roles within the construction industry.
• Strong knowledge of construction processes, quality control procedures, and building codes including the 2024 Family of International Building Codes.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings accurately.
• Excellent analysis skills for assessing construction quality and identifying potential issues.
• Familiarity with construction management principles and contract requirements.
• Experience with data collection methods relevant to site inspections and quality assurance.
• Construction site experience is preferred to understand real-world application of inspection standards.
• Strong attention to detail combined with effective communication skills for reporting findings clearly.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with project teams.
• Knowledge of pipeline systems or specialized inspection areas is a plus but not mandatory.
