About the job:
Overview
Operates the computer-controlled hydration systems and related equipment; maintains product quality by performing various lab testing; loads product for customer shipment; ensure incoming raw materials; maintain plant equipment to ensure efficient operation; troubleshoot the process & equipment to improve efficiency and product quality.
Essential Functions
Adheres to all company safety policies and procedures. Attend safety training meetings as scheduled. Writes and adheres to all process procedures and work instructions and keeps all procedures and instructions update.
Operates computer-controlled hydration. Function as bulk loader for transfer of product to customers in rail or truck.
Assures that product meets quality standards by controlling processes and by performing required quality tests and utilizing TQM techniques obtained through on-going training. Obtain samples as needed. Ensures high standards of housekeeping in all plant areas.
Maintains equipment through preventive maintenance, cleaning, troubleshooting, and repair work. Perform projects, equipment repair/troubleshooting, etc. as required. Troubleshoot process problems and implement process improvements.
Records raw materials and finished product inventory. Generate BOLs and maintain shipping records as directed.
Through training, develop a working knowledge of the computer control system to allow interface with IT and or Process Engineering personnel to facilitate remote changes, updates and troubleshooting of computer problems.
Monitors operation of Dust Control equipment. Ensure compliance of environmental regulations and requirements for storm water and air emissions. Maintain records of spillage, waste hauling or other unusual events.
Employees are expected to perform other responsibilities as needed.
Requirements
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Experience: Minimum of three years in an industrial environment required.
Knowledge: Knowledge of electrical and mechanical maintenance is a plus, keyboarding and MS Windows required.
Skills: Computer skills required. Strong writing and communication skills required.
Abilities: Work overtime as needed and respond to call-ins to work when the plant requires.
Behaviors: Comfortable interacting with customers, vendors, and contractors. Self-motivated and have initiative to work as an empowered team with on-site employees in order to operate a safe and efficient plant, maximize production and reduce costs.
Must be able to work the midnight swing shift: 6pm-6am, 3 days one week, 4 days the next. Must be willing to work rotating shifts, overtime, and holidays.
