What are the responsibilities and job description for the Knuckle Boom Operator position at Mississippi Department of Employment Security?
- GENERAL PURPOSE:** Operates a knuckleboom collection vehicle to collect yard waste, municipal solid waste and recyclable materials as required in support of the City of Clarksdale curbside collection program.
- SUPERVISION RECEIVED:** Works under the supervision of the Public Works Director, who assigns work, reviews completed work and provides instruction as necessary; performs duties according to established and specific procedures; detailed and specific instructions are provided on unusual or difficult projects.

- Operates a knuckleboom refuse collection vehicle on a regular basis.
- Performs daily operator inspection, maintenance and repairs on all vehicles operated
- Operates hand tools such as rakes, pitchforks, brooms and shovels as required.
- Assist in routine road maintenance such as brushing, cleaning culverts, digging or cleaning ditches, reshaping and improving shoulders, cleaning debris from road surface, patching, sweeping, hole filling and leveling of surfaces, removal of trees.
- Assist in clearing snow and ice from roads.
- Lifts fully loaded yard waste bags and other debris weighing between 50 - 100 lbs.
- Load and unload supplies, equipment and other materials.
- Act as a flag person, place traffic cones and other devices to ensure a smooth flow of traffic.
- Must possess, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid state Class B Commercial Driver License (CDL) without record of suspension or revocation in any state;
- Must not have been convicted of any felony convictions or other disqualifying serious misdemeanors, or possess any other disqualifying criminal history.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Must be of good moral character and temperament, and possess industrious habits.
- Must have the ability to maintain an excellent attendance record as per the regular hours of business, scheduled overtime and call-outs.
- Must have the ability to progressively assume all duties through the six-month probationary period.
- Possession of a high school diploma or general equivalency diploma
- Must have good public relations skills
- Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective reltions with the community, city employess, and Board of Mayor and Commissioners.
