What are the responsibilities and job description for the Detention Officer position at Mississippi Department of Employment Security?
Coahoma County Sheriff's Office Detention Officers are responsible for maintaining security and order within the Coahoma County Detention Facility, monitor and supervise inmates to ensure their safety and compliance with facility rules and regulations, perform regular searches of inmates and their living areas to prevent contraband and maintain security, respond promptly to incidents, emergencies, and conflicts within the facility, ensuring the safety of both staff and inmates.
Duties: Perform regular head counts of inmates within the facility, monitor inmates behavior for unusual activity to ensure safety and security, escort inmates to medical facilities, court and work details or wherever they are needed in a timely, secure manner, assist with the management of inmates, conduct inmate and cell searches, monitor security on the inside and outside perimeter of the facility, complete regular reports of the activities within the facility, and other tasks issued by the Warden or Sheriff.
