What are the responsibilities and job description for the Deputy Court Clerk position at Mississippi Department of Employment Security?
Under the direction of the Justice Court Clerk, performs clerical, reception and bookkeeping duties necessary to facilitate the work of Justice Court. Assists the public in civil and criminal matters, court procedures, answer multi-line telephones, docket criminal and civil court cases electronically, receive payments and reconcile daily, maintain court records, attend trainings as assigned, other duties assigned. Must have clerical experience and the ability to type a minimum of 40 wpm; knowledge of bookkeeping and filing systems; must have training and be able to operate a word processor, database software, and other office equipment; capable of working in a fast paced environment and have the ability to work well with others; must have ability to handle confidential records with discretion; must be able to attend professional clerk trainings; must have the ability to work with the public in highly confrontational, emotionally charged or uncomfortable circumstances; legal experience is helpful but not a requirement; must have effective oral and written communication skills. Must successfully pass a drug screening, background check.
