Duration: March 2026 – October 2026 Compensation: Based on Experience
Hours:
March – April: 8 – 16 hours per month
May – July: 24 – 48 hours per month
August – September: 48 – 72 hours per month, additional hours as needed October: 8 – 16 hours
Summary: The Marketing & Event Coordinator for the LeFleur Museum District’s (LMD) Mississippi Science Festival (MSF) will manage and execute marketing and communications efforts for the festival, including distribution of promotional materials, website updates, and digital content creation and management. This role will serve as a liaison for satellite locations, maintain a physical presence during event days and MSF meetings, and handle deliveries and pickups as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Community Engagement:
- Represent MSF at community events leading up to the festival (Ex: Fondren First Thursday)
- Interact with the public to promote MSF and help increase ticket sales
- Routinely deliver MSF collateral to communities (Libraries, Visitor Centers, Hotels, Local Businesses, etc.)
Media
- Collaborate with C Spire team and LMD members to update and send Media Advisories and Press Releases for MSF and C Spire C3 Jr. Coding Challenge
- Compile 10 Media Baskets comprised of LMD swag and MSF collateral and deliver to news stations 1- 2 weeks prior to event
Social Media & Digital Marketing
- Execute a coordinated, multi-channel marketing campaign across MSF accounts, promoting the LMD members and participating satellite locations, launching with Field Trip Friday promotions in March and increasing content frequency as the festival approaches
- Develop and post visually compelling marketing content using established MSF branding, templates, and style guidelines to promote the festival
- Monitor engagement and provide performance insights after completion of event
- Create and send monthly emails to each museum’s Educators email list to promote Field Trip Friday
- bookings, and send general MSF promotional emails 4 weeks leading up to the festival
Photography & Design
- Capture and post compelling social media content, from pre-event promotions to real-time stories and reels during the event days
- Assist with any basic graphic design needs for both digital and print materials, ensuring all assets align with MSF branding and visual standards
Website Support
- Assist in updating the MSF website with current information as needed
Cross-Institutional Collaboration:
- Attend MSF meetings throughout the year, including both virtual and in-person meetings with the MSF Advisory Committee, C Spire, Satellite Locations, and the LMD
- Coordinate travel and accommodations with MSF’s special guests
- Work closely with each museum’s marketing team to showcase their offerings and exhibitors at MSF
- Serve as the primary point of contact for design and communication-related needs for LMD
- institutions and participating satellite locations, ensuring consistency across materials
- Pick up marketing materials as needed from vendors, including signage, brochures, flyers, etc.
- Coordinate and deliver physical materials to LMD members, primarily during the weeks leading up to the festival
On-Site & Physical Presence Requirements:
- Be physically present for all MSF event days (09/14 - 09/19), providing hands-on support with event setup, breakdown, check-in, and general on-site coordination
- Assist staff, volunteers, and partners as needed during event operations to ensure a smooth and positive experience for exhibitors, educators, and attendees
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, PR, or related program
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Basic photography skills (Primarily phone-based photography)
- Demonstrated proficiency with Instagram, Facebook, X, and TikTok with an understanding of platform-specific best practices
- Some experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or other design tools preferred
- Outgoing, professional demeanor with the ability to confidently engage with the public, partners, and sponsors in fast-paced event environments
