Characteristics of Work:
Third-level seasoned vocational worker accountable for performing a variety of semi-skilled work in the alteration, maintenance, and repair of state buildings and facilities. At this level, employees work in and have general knowledge of a variety of trade areas including the following: grounds maintenance, landscaping, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, sheetrock, plastering and mechanical repair in settings such as buildings, facilities and grounds. May oversee a crew engaged in maintenance tasks. This position serves as a career transition point for employees to either continue with this family or transfer to the Specialty Trades and Construction Family.
Examples of Work:
· Possess the knowledge and ability to perform a variety of semi-skilled work in the alteration, maintenance, and repair of state buildings and facilities and grounds.
· Works in and has general knowledge of a variety of trade areas, which may include but are not limited to the following: grounds maintenance, landscaping, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, sheetrock, painting, plastering, and mechanical repair in settings such as building and facilities and grounds.
· Works alone or with a crew engaged in grounds or facilities maintenance tasks.
Experience:
Requires 3-4 years of experience. Grounds maintenance and/or landscaping experience is preferred but may be substituted for other experience in general maintenance or skilled work areas.
Education:
Graduation from a standard four-year high school or equivalent (GED or High School Equivalency Diploma).
