Job Title: Sr Manufacturing Systems & Automation Engineer
Overview:
Join a dynamic manufacturing team as a Senior Manufacturing Systems & Automation Engineer, where your hands-on expertise will drive the digital transformation of a highly customized hollow metal door and frame production facility. This critical role combines operational floor work with strategic automation initiatives, enabling the modernization of a 30-year-old environment into a data-driven, efficient operation. Collaborate across departments, from electricians to senior leadership, to deploy automation solutions, optimize processes, and support SAP integration — making a tangible impact on manufacturing performance and innovation.
Required Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering or related discipline
- 5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, automation, controls engineering, or industrial systems
- Strong knowledge of PLC systems, industrial automation, and manufacturing equipment
- Experience supporting ERP systems, preferably SAP
- Proficiency with factory networking, data acquisition systems, and Industry 4.0 technologies
- Mechanical aptitude with troubleshooting abilities on manufacturing equipment
- Ability to work directly on the shop floor and effectively interact with operators, maintenance, and leadership teams
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Nice to Have Skills:
- Experience with SAP S/4HANA, SAP PP, SAP PM, SAP EWM, SAP AVC
- Familiarity with Siemens and Allen-Bradley PLCs
- Knowledge of OPC-UA, Kepware, Ignition, and Power BI
- Skills in Python, MES, robotic welding, machine vision, and automation robotics
- Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies
- Industry experience in hollow metal doors, sheet metal, architectural or building products, elevator manufacturing, or high-mix low-volume environments
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Relevant technical degree (Bachelor’s minimum) in engineering or related field
- 5 years working with manufacturing controls, automation, and data systems
- Proven track record of deploying automation projects with measurable ROI
