Summary:
The primary responsibility of the RN Supervisor is to provide supervision and coordination of patient care in all units as assigned for licensed and unlicensed assistive personnel in the Nursing Department in order to provide continuity and quality resident care.
Responsibilities:
Provides 24 hours accountability and coordinates daily supervision of patient care on assigned unit as assigned for licensed and unlicensed assistive personnel on the unit in order to provide continuity and quality resident care.
Involved in all patient care and clinical programming of the unit including in-services and training.
Required to manage multiple priorities.
Maintains overall responsibility for resident assessments and for the recognition and reporting of resident change of condition to the attending physician.
Assists in the management of all levels of nursing staff to ensure accountability to all standards of nursing practice, quality care and treatments
Makes regular unit rounds throughout the shift and consults with Charge Nurses concerning new admissions and acutely ill residents
Assists Charge Nurses with coordination of CNA assignments as needed to ensure efficient quality care
Available to respond to clinical emergencies, regulatory agency visits, surveys and issues as needed
Participates in on-call rotation for clinical emergencies and other clinical/facility issues
Assists the DNS, ADNS and SD in on-going training of nursing staff to support clinical services and to meet and exceed established clinical competency levels; monitors and assists in the training of specialty unit personnel to maintain active competencies and/or certifications required for the specific unit.
Qualifications:
Must maintain current/active State of Massachusetts RN license.
Prefer Bachelors or Associate Degree in Nursing or a health related field.
Must have working knowledge (experience preferred) with various software programs such as WORD, EXCEL, as well as electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
Must be able to manage multiple projects and work with all disciplines in a challenging multi-cultural environment.
Must be knowledgeable of Quality Assurance/Improvement process as well as state/federal regulations and surveys.
Must be able to speak and write the English language.
Must maintain a current CPR and IV certification.
Requires a minimum of 2 years of increased responsibility as a Charge Nurse or Supervisor in long term care and/or in a rehabilitation facility or hospital setting. Other experience in Staff Development, Infection Control or MDS is a plus but not required.
Experience with state survey process and quality measures is preferred.
