Swim Coach (Competitive Team)
Mission Viejo Nadadores is a premier competitive swim organization dedicated to developing athletes who pursue excellence both in and out of the water. Our program emphasizes character development through integrity, discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
We are seeking a passionate and motivated Swim Coach to support the development of youth athletes within our competitive program. This role works closely with the Division Director to deliver high-quality training, foster athlete growth, and uphold the Nadadores culture of excellence.
- Plan and lead structured swim practices aligned with team curriculum
- Instruct stroke technique, race strategy, and skill progression
- Provide detailed performance feedback during practices and competitions
- Foster an environment that promotes athlete independence and accountability (age-appropriate)
- Support basic dryland training for developmental athletes
- Track athlete progress and performance metrics
- Maintain accurate records and reports as required
- Ensure meet entries are accurate and submitted on time
- Attend assigned practices, meets, and staff meetings
- Assist with setup and breakdown of hosted swim meets
- Maintain consistent communication with athletes, parents, and coaching staff
- Respond to parent inquiries within 24 hours
- Provide ongoing feedback on athlete goals and development
- Promote and embody the Mission Viejo Nadadores culture
- Demonstrate professionalism in behavior, appearance, and communication
- Help create a safe, inclusive, and positive training environment
- Participate in team events and community engagement activities
Required:
- CPR/AED Certification
- Safety Training for Swim Coaches
- Athlete Protection Training (APT)
- Current USA Swimming membership in good standing
- ASCA Level 2 certification (or ability to obtain)
- Background check clearance
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Prior coaching or competitive swimming experience
Technical Skills:
- Microsoft Office Suite
- TeamUnify and/or Team Manager (preferred)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- High ethical standards and professionalism
- Ability to adapt in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- Dependability and strong time management
