Job Description
Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS) manages and operates the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) for the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). Responsiblities
THIS IS A CASUAL POSITION WORKING A MAXIMUM OF 900 HOURS PER CALENDAR YEAR.
The Facility Operations and Site Services Section at the Remote Sensing Laboratory on Joint Base Andrews (JBA) is looking for a high performing individual with attention to detail to join our team as a Senior Technologist. This position will report to the Facility Manager at the Andrews site office within Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS).

Responsibilities

  • Assist with all facility-related projects involving electrical, plumbing, environmental, safety and health, and select Heating, Venting and Cooling System (HVAC) duties.
  • Participate in planning, staffing activities, scheduling projects, and deliverable tracking.
  • Assist with vendor research and selection for specialized jobs and projects.
  • Monitor project schedules and engage with customers to ensure job accuracy, completion, and timeliness.
  • Provide status updates to Facility Manager, colleagues, and RSL management.
  • Identify electrical wires by color; read and interpret blueprints/technical diagrams.
  • Install and maintain wiring and lighting systems.
  • Inspect electrical components, such as transformers and circuit breakers.
  • Identify electrical problems using a variety of testing devices.
  • Repair and/or replace defective wiring or fixtures using hand and power tools.
  • Coordinate project assignments among engineering, construction, specialty staff groups, clients, and vendors. Serves as a liaison to JBA's Civil Engineering Department as it relates to building repairs that fall under their purview.
  • Perform routine building walk-through and system checks as directed.
  • Assist with vehicle fleet maintenance to include cleaning vehicles as required and transport for preventative/emerging requirements.
  • Adhere to state and local building regulations based on the National Electrical Code and train fellow team members to install, maintain, and/or repair electrical wiring or equipment.
  • Perform other duties assigned by Management.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in field related to the position plus at least 5 years' progressive related experience or High School diploma plus 7 years' progressive related experience
  • Knowledge of HVAC system is desired.
  • Candidate must be a self-starter, possess strong organizational skills, and effective oral/written communication skills.
  • Candidate must have excellent critical thinking skills, effective time management skills, and is able to work independently, as well as a part of team.
  • Must be able to manage multiple projects that involve colleagues and subcontractors.
  • Applicant must be available for emergency recall and building repairs.
  • The primary work location will be based at the Remote Sensing Laboratories at Andrews Air Force Base, Maryland (RSL-A).
  • The work schedule is to be determined; employees can work 5/8's, 9/80's or 4/10's work-weeks. Overtime and travel may be required.
  • Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.

MSTS is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants offered employment with MSTS are also subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties of the position require a DOE security clearance. Substance abuse or illegal drug use, falsification of information, criminal activity, serious misconduct or other indicators of untrustworthiness can cause a clearance to be denied or terminated by DOE, resulting in the inability to perform the duties assigned and subsequent termination of employment. In addition, Applicants for employment must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship, at least 18 years of age. Reference DOE Order , "Personnel Security". If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted.

Department of Energy Q Clearance (position will be cleared to this level). Reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR Part , "Workplace Substance Abuse Programs at DOE Sites," will be conducted. Applicant selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation, required to participate in subsequent reinvestigations, and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. Successful completion of a counterintelligence evaluation, which may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination, may also be required. Reference 10 CFR Part 709 ) , "Counterintelligence Evaluation Program."

Hourly range for this position is $39.27- $58.91.

Starting salary is determined based on the position market value, the individual candidate education and experience and internal equity.
