Legal Assistant – Civil Litigation
A well-established civil litigation practice is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to support a senior litigation attorney while providing additional assistance to two attorneys in a busy Downtown Los Angeles office.
This role offers significant responsibility supporting a structured litigation practice, handling civil litigation, and insurance-related disputes. The successful candidate will take ownership of a high-volume desk, manage critical deadlines, and serve as a key administrative and litigation support professional.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage approximately 60–70 active litigation matters
- Prepare, format, and proofread pleadings and legal correspondence
- Independently prepare and file California state and federal court e-filings
- Draft and maintain discovery shells, including Interrogatories, Requests for Production, and Requests for Admission
- Maintain litigation calendars and track deadlines
- Coordinate hearings, depositions, mediations, and court appearances
- Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel
- Assist with mediation and trial preparation
- Provide executive-level calendar management and administrative support
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of legal assistant or litigation support experience
- Strong California civil litigation experience
- Experience supporting senior litigation attorneys preferred
- Experience managing high-volume litigation matters
- Strong organizational, communication, and deadline-management skills
- California state and federal e-filing experience required
- Must be able to work onsite full-time in Downtown Los Angeles
Compensation
- $90,000 – $110,000
