Job Summary

Responsible for supporting the bagging teams at our other FDC’s. Responsible for the electrical/mechanical systems and equipment including inspections, repairs installations, modifications, preventative maintenance, and documentation. Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on all bagging equipment at CDS. Responsible for maximizing equipment productivity and up time. Continuous improvement with respect to all local, state, and federal codes.

Job Summary

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and direct activities concerned with the maintenance of all bagging equipment, machines, structures, facilities, and systems.
- Inspect and review maintenance activities to monitor compliance with all safety and environmental codes, regulations, permits, and company policies.
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment to determine the root cause of failure in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with departmental objectives.
- Train maintenance personnel.
- Take action to deal with the results of unplanned downtime, bad weather, and emergencies.
- Investigate damage, accidents, or unplanned downtime to ensure that proper procedures are being carried out.
- Plan and organize the work of the bagging team to minimize unplanned downtime of production equipment, machinery, facilities, and systems.
- Confer with vendors and suppliers to obtain materials and services in accordance with appropriate company policies and procedures.
- Work with other cross-functional teams/departments in support of continuous improvement activities for productivity and yield enhancement.
- Estimate time and cost for installation and repairs for bagging maintenance projects.
- Explore new ways to improve department performance.
- Develop procedures for equipment check-out prior to the start of shift to ensure equipment readiness.
- Oversee safety inspections on all equipment to ensure maintenance personnel follow all safety rules and processes while acting as a safety role model for the bagging, maintenance team, and the company.
- Oversee new equipment installation and all equipment upgrades.
- Continuously review the impact of change and adapt the process to achieve end results.
- Mentor lower-level skilled trades personnel.
- Perform other duties as requested.
- Team player with excellent problem solving and trouble-shooting skills.
- Proven project and time management skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
- Excellent ability to communicate equipment issues and ensure that equipment at all facilities meets requirements.
- Proven experience with preventative maintenance programs and the ability to build new maintenance programs from the ground up.
- Ability to follow SOP’s and standardize work and processes.
- Experience installing new equipment and equipment upgrades.
- Strong mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic skills.
- Strong Microsoft Office and PC skills.
- Willing to travel.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license.
- May be required to work Overtime as needed.
- Able to communicate in Spanish and English.
- Process improvement background.
- Experience identifying or being part of teams focused on continuous improvement and cost reduction.
- CMMS experience.
- Wet and cold conditions from 38°F to 50°F.
- Mitigating issues and conflicts with employees/contractors.
- Standing, bending, kneeling, and crouching for prolonged periods of time.
- Lifting, pushing, pulling, and grasping while standing and kneeling.
- Stand for 8-hour shift.
- Work at heights.
- Ability to make decisions in a fast paced and high stress environment.
- Work with and around conveyors and other moving equipment.
- Able to lift 25 to 48 pounds to a minimum height of 36 inches.
