Job Summary: Looking to fill a Commercial Mechanical Estimator position with a focus on small to mid-size projects. The right candidate would be a self-starter and thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
Essential Functions:
- Creates accurate and complete mechanical (plumbing, electrical, HVAC) estimates based on construction documents provided.
- Reviews and comprehends all aspects of assigned projects, including, associated plans, specifications, details, job schedules, etc.
- Creates clear and detailed project proposals.
- Bases estimates on the highest level of detail available from the design information provided.
- Responsible for quality, accuracy and timely completion of their proposals.
- Communicates any RFI’s related to projects assigned.
- Provides value engineering options (VE) upon requests.
- Negotiates scope and pricing with customers and vendors.
- Determines major material suppliers for projects
- Manages all essential communication—verbal or written—with the customer.
- Reviews contracts and confirms the scope of work within the contract reflects the estimator’s submitted scope.
- Follows up on the submittal process to ensure all products are submitted and approved by the customer.
- Attends pre-construction meetings with project managers, field supervisors and division managers to review scope, material and mapping of labor for project success.
- Transfer all estimating info / data over to the installation team.
- Creates purchase order for supplier quoted material.
- Attends weekly estimating/ sales meeting providing up to date project follow ups.
- Creates job scopes for projects won.
- May operate as PM on smaller projects.

Education/Knowledge/Skills Requirements:
- High School diploma required; college degree in a related field preferred.
- A minimum of 3 years of commercial mechanical (plumbing, electrical, HVAC) estimating experience is required.
- Experience bidding projects up to $500,000.00
- Plumbing, electrical, HVAC certification, professional license, or credential preferred.
- Valid driver’s license
- Dependable transportation
- Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook etc.) proficiency required.
- FastPipe software knowledge/experience preferred
- Experience using estimating software required
- Knowledge of plumbing codes required
