Systems Engineer (Expert‑Level)
Mission Intelligence Group is seeking an Expert‑Level Systems Engineer to provide senior technical leadership across complex, multi‑discipline GEOINT systems. This role supports mission‑critical capabilities spanning the National System of Geospatial‑Intelligence (NSG), Allied System of Geospatial‑Intelligence (ASG), and Federal partners.
Your Role
As an Expert‑Level Systems Engineer, you will operate at the enterprise and system‑of‑systems level, guiding engineering efforts across organizational and governmental boundaries. You will advise government leadership, integrate emerging technologies, and ensure GEOINT systems are resilient, reliable, and aligned with mission needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Government in directing requirements engineering, solutions engineering, integration, test & evaluation, and sustainment across NSG, ASG, and Federal Agencies
- Lead and support Analysis of Alternatives (AoAs), Courses of Action (CoAs), trade studies, and engineering assessments
- Translate mission and customer needs into system and capability requirements and technical solutions
- Advise on proposed solution design changes based on requirements analysis and emerging technologies
- Support requirements traceability across users, architectures, procedures, and systems
- Assist in systems integration activities and allocation of requirements to architecture components and programs
- Provide strategic input on technical planning, performance engineering, risk management, and interface design
- Deliver expert guidance linking vision, strategy, plans, requirements, and capability development
- Integrate and oversee efforts across multiple Major Systems Acquisitions
- Oversee and coordinate the work of Senior‑, Mid‑, and Junior‑level Systems Engineers
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Systems Engineering or a related STEM field, or equivalent additional experience
- 18 years of experience in government or industry supporting complex systems, including:
- DoD / IC Acquisition and Requirements Processes
- PPBES Process
- Systems engineering of large‑scale System‑of‑Systems or SOA environments
- Strong understanding of the systems engineering lifecycle
- Demonstrated knowledge of NSG/ASG and NRO enterprises
- Prior NGA and/or NSG/ASG program or project experience
- Prior IC or DoD program/project experience
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree or higher in Systems Engineering or a related STEM field
- Working knowledge of Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) processes, tools, and languages
- Software Development Framework certification
- INCOSE Expert Systems Engineering Professional (ESEP) certification
- Professional Engineer (PE) licensure
- Membership or leadership participation in professional organizations, such as:
- ACSM
- ASCE
- ASPRS
- OGC
- SAREM
- USGIF
- Extensive experience in geospatial intelligence
- Experience engineering solutions using:
- Cloud‑based technologies
- Structured and unstructured Big Data
- Automation, Augmentation, and Artificial Intelligence technologies
- Demonstrated expertise in photogrammetry, remote sensing, image science, GIS, geomatics, or related fields
