Responsible for effective and professional communication via telephone, patient call bells and face to face interactions with patients, families, visitors and staff. The Health Unit Coordinator is the hub of communication for the safety of the patient. Effectively multitasks which includes answering call lights, answering phones, maintains accurate computer skills, etc. Assists with unit projects.

Highlands-Cashiers Hospital, a member of Mission Health, an operating division of HCA Healthcare, is a community hospital serving Macon, Jackson and the surrounding counties. Located on Highway 64 between the towns of Highlands and Cashiers, the hospital offers 24/7 emergency care, acute inpatient care, rehabilitation, as well as long-term care through Eckerd Living Center. Highlands-Cashiers Hospital has 24 beds for acute care services and 80 beds in the Eckerd Living Center. Ambulatory services are also available, including therapy services and primary care practices serving both Highlands and Cashiers.

- Greeting and guiding patients and visitors with warmth and professionalism, offering updates, and ensuring they feel informed and supported
- Maintaining patient records accurately, entering physician orders, and protecting patient information
- Handling all communications between incoming calls and care team members promptly and clearly to keep the unit connected
- Keeping the environment clean, organized, and well-stocked to promote safety and comfort
- Taking initiative to solve challenges, support daily operations, and foster a culture of respect and teamwork
- Required Education: High school graduate or equivalent
- Preferred Education: Courses in medical terminology preferred. Comparable experience and skills also considered.
