We currently manage MEDA’s Small Sites Preservation (SSP) properties across San Francisco, with plans to expand to additional affordable housing developments in the future.YOUR CAREER OPPORTUNITYThe Maintenance Technician plays a key role in preserving affordable housing by ensuring buildings are safe, compliant, and well-maintained. This position is responsible for day-to-day maintenance across a portfolio of 38 small-site buildings throughout San Francisco, contributing directly to the stability and well-being of our residents and communities.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESGeneral Maintenance & RepairsRespond to maintenance work orders promptly and effectively.Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues.Perform light maintenance tasks such as painting, re-caulking, carpet cleaning, light unit turnovers, and snaking of drains.Operate and maintain building systems, appliances, and key-making hardware.Assist with move-ins, move-outs, and unit preparation.Safety & ComplianceMonitor and address safety hazards across properties.Ensure compliance with building codes, OSHA standards, IIPP (Injury Illness Prevention Program), and MOHCD SSP guidelines.Address violations and ensure properties remain inspection-ready.Safeguard building and unit keys.Resident Support & CommunicationCommunicate clearly with tenants regarding scheduling and resolution of maintenance issues.Provide responsive, respectful, and professional customer service.Ensure a safe and secure living environment for all residents.Vendor & Team CollaborationPartner with property management and external vendors to coordinate maintenance tasks.Collaborate with internal staff to ensure strong communication and support.Report regularly on property conditions and maintenance activities.Administrative & ReportingUse Yardi (property management software) to track, update, and close out work orders.Conduct unit and building inspections, including daily walkthroughs as directed.Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, and maintenance needs.Perform other duties as assigned. YOUR KEYS TO SUCCESSTo perform successfully in this role, you will need to leverage these key qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent; 3 years of experience in building maintenance or related roles.Technical/trade school training preferred but not required.Knowledge of residential property maintenance, building systems, and safe work practices.Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Excellent communication and customer service skills, particularly in tenant-facing situations.Experience with Google Suite and Yardi preferred (training available).Bilingual English and Spanish are strongly preferred.
