Mission Community Hospital, a 145 bed acute care hospital in the San Fernando Valley in search for a Materials Coordinator is responsible for maintaining the inventory levels in the warehouse and maintaining the materials management computer system. The Materials Coordinator is also responsible for assisting the Materials Manager in their daily duties and coordinating with the Warehouse Clerk and Buyer to ensure their duties are completed in a timely manner. In addition, the Materials Coordinator is also responsible for working with vendors to ensure a good relationship between vendors and the hospital.
Major Responsibilities
Warehouse - 40%
- Organize and coordinate receipt and delivery of all Hospital equipment, furniture and supplies.
- Assist in handling all incoming items both stock and non-stock. Process all receiving reports for computer input and forward information to the purchasing department.
- Assist in all stock and non-stock returns and documentations to be returned for credit or repair, as well as reporting all freight damage to department manager.
- Assist in deliveries or goods to departments.
- Assist in restocking shelves and rotating stock items in work area in preparation for next day workload.
Purchasing - 30%
- Assist with organizing and maintaining computerized operations within the department.
- Responsible for all receiving operations.
- Responsible for Inventory Control in all locations to assure adequate supply levels.
- Assist with daily-recommended orders, weekly general cycle counts and semiannual physical inventory.
- Review inventory PAR levels, change recommend reorders, change and update ROP & ROQ's and assure adequate inventory levels according to census and patient records.
- Process all needed inventory adjustments, issues and any return paperwork.
- Assist in the setup of inventory control system for all items with the exception of food and pharmaceuticals.
- Assist in the daily process of all warehouse operations/functions.
- Assist in managing and maintaining all PAR levels and bin locations as needed.
Mailroom/Copy Center - 20%
- Assist mailroom department with mail pick-up from the post office, sorting of postal/priority mail, UPS and packages as needed.
- Assist in all aspects of copy center needs/functions
- Refill copy paper to departments
- Maintain meter reads
- Maintain toner PAR levels
- Copy as needed
Other/Miscellaneous - 10%
- Assist other employees with training and in-service.
- Assist in accurate and complete filing systems.
- Assist in maintaining a clean storeroom.
- Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, staff meetings, workshops and in-services.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
High School Diploma
- 2 years' experience in materials management, central supply, or warehouse in a hospital setting.
Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word and Excel)
Good vendor relations and customer service skills
Good communication skills
Dependability; reporting to work as scheduled
- Ability to read, write and speak English proficiently
- Must provide confidentiality, privacy and safety of patients, visitors and staff at all times
- Fire Card - obtained within 30 days of hire
Preferred
- Inventory Management System experience
