House Supervisor (RN) - Night Shift
Mission Community Hospital is seeking an experienced House Supervisor (RN) to provide leadership and clinical oversight during night shift operations. The House Supervisor serves as the administrative and clinical resource for the hospital during assigned hours, ensuring safe patient care, regulatory compliance, staffing coordination, and effective communication among departments.
Position Summary
The House Supervisor is responsible for coordinating hospital-wide operations during the night shift, serving as the on-site leader for patient care services, staffing, throughput, and emergency response. This role collaborates with nursing leadership, physicians, department directors, and ancillary departments to promote quality patient outcomes, patient safety, and operational efficiency.
Essential Responsibilities
Leadership & Operations
- Serve as the administrative representative for the hospital during assigned shifts.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and support to nursing and ancillary departments.
- Coordinate staffing and patient placement throughout the hospital.
- Monitor patient census, acuity, and staffing needs to ensure safe staffing levels.
- Respond to and assist with patient, family, physician, and employee concerns.
- Facilitate patient flow, admissions, transfers, discharges, and bed placement.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and accreditation requirements.
- Assist managers and directors in achieving departmental and organizational goals.
Clinical Oversight
- Provide clinical support and consultation to nursing staff.
- Respond to emergencies, Rapid Responses, and Code Blue situations.
- Assist with complex patient care situations and staffing challenges.
- Ensure quality patient care is delivered in accordance with hospital standards.
- Monitor patient safety initiatives and risk management concerns.
- Participate in incident investigations and follow-up as needed.
Staffing & Resource Management
- Manage staffing assignments and staffing office operations during off-shifts.
- Coordinate staffing adjustments based on patient census and acuity.
- Approve staffing changes and resource allocation as appropriate.
- Collaborate with department leaders regarding staffing concerns and patient care needs.
Customer Service
- Promote Mission Community Hospital's commitment to exceptional patient care and service excellence.
- Address concerns promptly and effectively.
- Foster positive relationships with physicians, employees, patients, and visitors.
- Serve as a resource and mentor for staff.
Qualifications
Required
- Current California Registered Nurse (RN) License.
- Minimum three (3) years acute care nursing experience.
- Minimum one (1) year leadership experience as Charge Nurse, Clinical Supervisor, House Supervisor, or equivalent.
- Current BLS Certification.
- Current ACLS Certification.
- Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation competency.
- MAB, CPI, or PART certification (or ability to obtain).
- Strong communication, leadership, and conflict resolution skills.
- Basic computer proficiency.
Preferred
- BSN required; MSN preferred.
- Previous House Supervisor experience.
- Critical Care, Emergency Department, or Leadership experience.
- Specialty certifications preferred.
- Bilingual preferred.
Schedule
