What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Camp Lead Counselor position at Miss Shona's Performing Arts Center?
Miss Shona’s Performing Arts Center in Maplewood, NJ is looking to hire a Lead Counselor for July and August camps. This position is performed on-site at the dance studio and can be in half day shifts (8:30am-12:30pm) or full day shifts (8:30am-3:30pm).
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Supervise counselors and junior counselors
- Physical set-up and breakdown of camp day
- Cover Camp Director duties when needed
- Lead free play, crafts, water play, learning songs and dances, and more!
- Maintain a safe, positive, and caring camp environment.
- Assisting with Friday afternoon camper performances.
- Other duties as assigned
Candidates must:
- Have at least three years experience working with children
- Have some experience managing a small team
- Be over 18 years of age
- Have a passion for sharing the arts with the community!
- Be able to lift at least 25 pounds.
- Consent to a background check
This is a temporary, hourly position. Pay is $20-$25 per hour depending on experience. Help is needed M-F for the following weeks:
- July 6-10 (tentative)
- July 13-17 (tentative)
- July 20-24 (tentative)
- July 27-31 (tentative)
- August 17-21 (definite)
- August 24-28 (definite)
