Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Childcare assistant to support the developmental and emotional needs of children in a nurturing environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for early childhood education, experience working with children of various ages, and a strong commitment to safety and well-being. This role involves creating engaging activities, ensuring a safe environment, and fostering positive growth experiences for children under your care. This is a Family Childcare located in Cedonia, MD 21206
Must be able to pass background check and pay for own background.
Shift: Monday.-Friday 630a -11:30a or 1130a-530p
Weds thru Friday 630am-4:30pm
*MORNING SHIFT PREFERRED *
Some weekends available.
MUST BE OVER 18 AND OUT OF HIGHSCHOOL
Duties
- Supervise and monitor children during play, learning activities, and daily routines
- Plan and implement age-appropriate educational activities that promote childhood development and early learning skills
- Ensure the safety of all children by adhering to safety protocols and maintaining a clean, hazard-free environment
- Assist with feeding, diapering, and personal hygiene as needed
- Communicate regularly with parents or guardians regarding children's progress, behavior, and needs
- Support children with disabilities or special needs by implementing individualized care plans
- Manage behavior using positive reinforcement techniques and behavior management strategies
- Maintain accurate records of activities, attendance, and developmental milestones
- Foster a caring, inclusive atmosphere that encourages social interaction and emotional growth
Skills
- Experience with children across various age groups, including infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and school-age children. Specials education experience/ background preferred
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education practices
- First aid certification and CPR training to ensure safety in emergency situations
- Strong caregiving skills with experience in babysitting, nannying, daycare settings, or classroom environments
- Ability to work effectively with children with disabilities or special needs
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with children, parents, and team members
- Patience, creativity, and enthusiasm for teaching and nurturing young minds
- Experience in behavior management techniques to promote positive behavior and social skills
- Ability to create a stimulating environment that supports learning through play and exploration
