MISO’s Solution Architect is responsible for collaborating with various stakeholders in designing, prototyping, and evaluating highly scalable solutions used to manage the power grid for 45 million people. The Solution Architect will:
- Partner with engineers, business leaders, and operations teams to design solutions that keep the grid reliable and ready for the future.
- Shape and guide the architecture vision, creating practical roadmaps that balance innovation with operational needs.
- Build and share prototypes and proofs-of-concept that bring new ideas to life.
- Coach teams on cloud-ready and data-driven practices, helping them adopt modern tools and approaches that align with technology standards.
- Collaborate with peers and vendors to deliver secure, scalable solutions that support a sustainable the future of energy.
To be a successful Solution Architect, we are looking for:
- Significant experience (typically 8 years) in software engineering and solution/enterprise architecture, with a track record of shaping and delivering modern technology solutions.
- Ability to communicate and simplify complex architectural designs for both technical and non-technical audiences, using visual models and clear storytelling.
- Strong design and problem-solving skills, with hands-on experience connecting architecture to real-world delivery through modern tools (CI/CD, programming languages, and cloud services).
- A talent for bridging vision with execution — guiding engineering teams so that architecture translates into working, scalable solutions.
- Background in solving architecture challenges within complex, regulated, or mission-critical environments (energy, finance, healthcare, telecom, government, or similar).
- Commitment to ongoing learning, with relevant certifications (e.g., cloud architecture, TOGAF, ArchiMate, Agile/Lean practices) seen as a plus, not a requirement.
Appropriate level will be determined based upon experience, knowledge, and skills.

The base salary compensation range being offered for this role is $150,000 - $171,000 USD annually. Base salary range for this position is included in accordance with requirements of various state/local pay transparency legislation. Please note that salaries may vary for different individuals in the same role based on several factors, including but not limited to location of the role, individual competencies, education/professional certifications, and qualifications/experience.
