What are the responsibilities and job description for the Vice President University Advancement position at MISERICORDIA UNIVERSITY?
Misericordia seeks an innovative new vice president who is an experienced and successful leader in higher education and who is deeply grounded in liberal arts education and the charisms of the Sisters of Mercy. The vice president is the chief advancement officer for the University and advises the President on all matters pertaining to the management and operation of alumni relations and donor relations.
Education and Experience:
- A bachelor’s degree and experience in donor-centric development operations.
- Progressively more responsibility (including or approaching the level of a vice president) in leadership and administrative experience, in higher education or a closely related non-profit setting, related to fundraising university advancement and/or alumni/external relations.
- An understanding of the legacy of the Sisters of Mercy and the Catholic traditions and mission of the University, and a deep commitment to the charisms.
- Demonstrated experience in cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding prospects and their engagement in fundraising activities.
- An understanding and appreciation for volunteer or board management including the importance of creating a diverse, representative board.
- Knowledge of current and emerging best practices in fundraising and the capacity to adapt these as appropriate.
- The ability to gain the confidence of the University administrative team, faculty, students, staff, alumni, and the greater Dallas communities through sustained, transparent, and visionary leadership.
- Excellent communication skills, including speaking, writing, and listening.
- Visibility on the campus and in the community and accessibility to students, faculty, and staff.
- The ability to build effective teams that allow for both individual creativity and accountability and demonstrated appreciation for and reliance on data and quantifiable outcomes and reporting.
