What are the responsibilities and job description for the Aerial Groundman- Telecommunications position at Mirra Construction?
A successful Groundman candidate must have the skills necessary to help the lead lineman complete projects in a timely manner. Skills that will be taught include knowledge of aerial cable and fiber optic installation procedures and techniques including the placement anchors/ hardware, familiarity with a wide variety of tools and equipment, ability to read and understand prints/maps, safety rules, and operating instructions.
Responsibilities Include:
- Help install and repair aerial telecommunications cable
- Safely use hand tools and equipment such as wrenches, drills, ladders, lanyards, saws, lashers, climbing hooks, and more.
- Be comfortable with climbing utility poles
- Safety oriented: able to set work zones up properly, use PPE as directed, follow safe work practices, policies and procedures set for by our company
Education, Skills, and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen
- OSHA 10 certification in construction
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to obtain DOT medical card
Pay is based on experience and skill level and there may be an opportunity to negotiate pay rate. There will be opportunities for overtime.
