What are the responsibilities and job description for the Caregiver position at Mire's Home Care?
The Homemaker/Caregiver works under the supervision of a licensed professional and performs tasks that contribute to clients' comfort and safety in the home. The Homemaker/Caregiver provides emotional support, socialization, quiet time, assistance with daily living activities including grooming, and can assist with meal preparation and light housekeeping.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
- Demonstrate ability to read, write, follow a written Plan of Care and document tasks performed.
- Be self-directed and work with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrate Dependability, tact, patience and the ability to follow instructions.
- Possess good interpersonal communication skills.
- Have experience in cooking, cleaning, laundry and shopping.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
- Function within the limitations of the individual assignment and maintain strict confidentiality.
- Attend to client's request promptly.
- Provide companionship, socialization and housekeeping services.
- Assist with meal planning, assist with grooming as needed, purchase of food and food preparation.
- Assist client to live in a clean, safe environment:
- Cleaning bathrooms and kitchen, including refrigerator and stove
- Personal errands
- Laundry
- Vacuuming and dusting
- Scrubbing floors
- Changing bed linens
- Know and follow infection control policies, including proper hand washing techniques.
- Maintain appropriate communication with the Nursing Supervisor (written and verbal) and with all members of the interdisciplinary team.
- Document cares given and pertinent observations accurately as directed by the care plan/Nursing Supervisor.
- Treat clients and families with respect and maintain confidentiality.
- Accept and fulfill assignments with the Agency and exercise judgment in accepting assignments.
- Attend required in-service programs per Agency policy.
