CNA/Paraprofessional - Youth Residential Care - (Full-Time)

Qualifications:
Person holding at least a High School Diploma or GED to provide direct care services for youth mental health and residential support. Active Georgia CNA certification required. Upon hiring, an individualized supervision plan will be developed and supervision provided by House Supervisor or Qualified Professional serving the at-risk youth population (ages 6-17).

Responsibilities:

  • Communicate relevant consumer information to House Supervisors, Clinical Team, and parents/guardians

  • Provide privacy and confidentiality of all consumer health and behavioral records

  • Assure youth are free from abuse, mistreatment, or neglect; immediately report incidents to supervisor

  • Treat each youth with dignity, respect, and trauma-informed care principles

  • Complete all documentation related to Treatment Plans, daily progress notes, and medication prompts

  • Develop thorough understanding of agency philosophy, Skills System, and each youth's Treatment Plan

  • Implement goals and recommendations following appropriate documentation procedures

  • Provide positive atmosphere facilitating emotional growth, skill-building, and New-Me Activities

  • Make decisions based on CNA training, agency policies, and A B=C coaching strategies when unsupervised

  • Execute all shift documentation including service notes, medication records, and behavior observations

  • Transport youth to scheduled/unscheduled appointments, court hearings, school, and family visits

  • Serve in parental role during school suspensions, illnesses, or weekend resource gaps-prioritizing child's best interest

  • Maintain accurate record-keeping for client files, medication/treatment charts, daily/weekly notes, food budgets, allowances, and trip funds

  • Keep inventory of household equipment/tools; report damages/concerns immediately to House Supervisor

  • Assist with ADLs (bathing, dressing, meals, hygiene, toileting) and health monitoring

Communication:
Gives and receives information constructively and effectively, both verbally and in writing. Listens actively to co-workers, youth, families, and supervisors while remaining open to their ideas, concerns, and feedback. Uses A B=C Column B strategies when sharing perspectives with youth and team members.

Performance Expectations:

  • Provides accurate, clear, legible documentation including CNA vital signs, behavior observations, and treatment plan progress

  • Actively listens with intent to understand youth needs and team directives

  • Uses efficient filing systems for health records, service notes, medication documentation, and daily logs

Filing and Record Keeping:

  • Maintains efficient systems for storing/retrieving consumer documents including service notes, medication records, daily behavioral notes, treatment plans, and incident reports

  • Keeps accurate, up-to-date files compliant with state regulations and agency standards

Work Habits and Behavior:

  • Demonstrates fundamental work habits in organization, planning, flexibility, teamwork, and stress management

  • Effectively manages time by prioritizing daily/weekly activities including youth care, documentation, and transport schedules

  • Accepts difficult assignments, schedule changes, and crisis situations while helping team members

  • Follows CNA protocols, agency procedures, and Skills System strategies without excessive supervision

  • Maintains reliable attendance; provides advance notice for absences; uses breaks/lunch appropriately

  • Promotes teamwork by completing work supporting house objectives, timely communication of issues, and consistent coverage

Additional Qualifications:

  • 18 years of age or older

  • Physically and mentally fit for frequent lifting (50 lbs), standing, running, and crisis interventions

  • Valid Georgia driver's license with clean driving record

  • CPR/First Aid certified

Preferred:

  • 6 months to 1 year experience in group homes, residential care, or working with at-risk children/youth

  • Familiarity with trauma-informed care and emotional regulation strategies

  • Previous CNA experience in pediatric or behavioral health settings
