Minuteman Press is seeking a full-time Graphic Designer/Customer Service Representative. This position will be responsible for assisting our customers via telephone, email, and in person at our office with their print, mailing, promotional and design projects.
You will be responsible for entering orders into our proprietary management software, which we will train you how to use. Duties will also include, but are not limited to: advising the customer on their project, project quoting, customer correspondence through the order process, preparing print files, vendor relations, filing, and assisting in the digital printing and bindery operations.

Duties:
Graphic Design/Prepress
- General typesetting and page layout of customer projects from business cards to banners.
- All levels of digital file preperation and design, to include preparing files for print production, checking fonts, links, and colors, creating bleeds, crops and imposing art as outlined in the work order.
- Preperation of print ready proofs and following procedures for submitting proofs to clients for review.
- Courteous communication with clients to assist them with proof approvals as well as the accurate and timely creation of their print jobs.
- Review job specifications from work orders and ensure digital files are accurate to produce job, while communicating with co-workers and clients when work orders or art requires alterations and adjustments.
- Marketing and Advertising – create and implement email marketing and mail campaigns on a regular basis as directed and coordinated with ownership.
Customer Service
- Answering phones and assisting walk-in customers at the front counter in a professional and courteous manner.
- Email management and follow up – responding to and handling all email and internet inquiries promptly, professionally, and courteously.
- Courteous communication with clients to assist them with quoting, work ordering and invoicing their project, with a mindset of accuracy, efficiency, and quality.
- Review job specifications from customers and accurately enter all job details into our data management system to ensure work orders reflect exact and timely production.
- Receivables – promptly collecting deposits as necessary and following up on open invoices.
- Editing and updating work orders and their statuses as they progress through production, while keeping customers informed of necessary status changes.
Other
- Filing of documents in file cabinet.
- General shop cleaning, including maintaining a clean, organized front counter and lobby area.
- Accountability and ownership for the tasks assigned.
- Assist in the production, finishing and packaging.
Requirements:
- Experience in graphic design, print production or a related field.
- Previous experience in a fast-paced Customer Service environment, preferably in a print shop environment.
- High level of proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, primarily InDesign and Illustrator
- Experience with print and promotional product design and production
- Excellent communications skills, verbal and written, with the ability to communicate clearly, comprehensively and pleasantly.
- Professional appearance and attitude.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- High organizational competence, with the ability to multitask effectively.
- Strong math skills.
- High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and a ‘can do attitude’ with the ability to get the job done within certain time restraints.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize own workload.
- Common sense, on the go, quick decision-making ability.
- Must be able to use a hand truck and lift 50lbs throughout shift.
- Driver's license and clean driving record.
