Job Summary:
The Packaging Mechanic is responsible for the setup, maintenance, and smooth operation of assigned bottle packaging production lines. This role requires strong technical expertise in packaging machinery, the ability to perform changeovers efficiently, and the capability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical and basic electrical issues. The candidate should be able to manage multiple machines simultaneously and ensure compliance with quality and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform setup, changeover, and adjustments of packaging machines within expected timelines.
Conduct maintenance and repairs on packaging and pneumatic equipment.
Operate and troubleshoot multiple machines across bottle packaging lines.
Perform daily preventive maintenance on equipment, conveyors, and compressors.
Diagnose faults, repair or replace defective parts, and test equipment performance.
Use diagnostic tools such as multimeters, tachometers, and CMMS systems.
Read and interpret equipment manuals and technical documentation.
Handle machinery including bottle unscramblers, counters, fillers, cappers, sealers, labelers, and cartoners.
Ensure compliance with cGMP, SOPs, OSHA, and company policies.
Maintain accurate documentation such as batch records and operation logs.
Perform in-process quality checks, sampling, and testing.
Train and guide packaging operators on machine operation, cleaning, and safety.
Assist in equipment installation and general plant maintenance activities.
Identify and report defects, malfunctions, or unusual conditions.
Follow safety procedures and maintain a safe working environment.
Use hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments effectively.
Maintain proper hygiene and gowning standards as per guidelines.
Support extended hours, weekend work, and perform additional duties as assigned.
Education & Experience:
Associate’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field
Minimum 2 years of experience in:
Mechanical maintenance of bottle packaging lines (troubleshooting, repairs, setup, disassembly, etc.)
Pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, food, or supplement manufacturing industries
Skills & Competencies:
Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to disassemble, repair, and troubleshoot equipment
Ability to read blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical manuals
Proficiency with measuring tools (micrometer, caliper, VOM, etc.)
Basic electrical troubleshooting skills
Understanding of cGMP and OSHA standards
Ability to follow written instructions and perform basic mathematical calculations
Good teamwork and communication skills
Basic English reading and writing ability
General PC proficiency
PLC knowledge is a plus
