The Maintenance Supervisor provides leadership and technical guidance to the maintenance team while ensuring plant equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably. This role is responsible for coordinating preventative maintenance activities, troubleshooting complex equipment issues, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and operational standards.
The Maintenance Supervisor serves as the first level of leadership for the maintenance team and works closely with Operations and Quality teams to support production performance and plant reliability.
Maintenance Leadership & Equipment Reliability
- Lead and coordinate the activities of the maintenance team to ensure equipment reliability and production continuity.
- Provide preventative maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and technical support for plant equipment and production systems.
- Assist in diagnosing and resolving complex electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and PLC-related issues.
- Schedule preventative maintenance and repairs in coordination with Operations to minimize downtime and overtime.
- Ensure equipment performance meets operational and quality requirements.
- Investigate equipment failures and implement cost-effective corrective solutions aligned with maintenance budget expectations.
- Maintain and improve preventative maintenance programs to support plant reliability.
- Support spare parts management and maintenance inventory control while monitoring spend and maintaining adherence to the maintenance budget.
- Assist in managing the maintenance budget, including tracking expenditures, controlling costs, and identifying opportunities for efficiency and savings.
Equipment Maintenance & Reliability
- Perform preventative maintenance, routine inspections, troubleshooting, and repair of hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical systems including conveyors and PLC-controlled equipment.
- Maintain equipment performance to design specifications to support production goals and minimize downtime.
- Work with Operations to schedule repairs and preventative maintenance to support the production schedule and reduce operational disruptions.
- Identify root causes of equipment failures and recommend cost-effective corrective solutions.
- Maintain organized spare parts inventory and requisition necessary repair materials and components.
- Ensure equipment consistently produces quality product while supporting established quality standards.
Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement
- Support continuous improvement initiatives including Lean principles, 5S practices, Kaizen events, and error proofing.
- Work with management to develop and implement maintenance strategies that improve operational efficiency.
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, maintenance practices, and plant performance.
- Assist with plant projects, equipment upgrades, and reliability initiatives.
- Support adherence to quality standards during the manufacturing of bonding resins and powdered chemicals.
Teamwork Leadership & Collaboration
- Provide day-to-day leadership and technical direction to maintenance technicians.
- Train, mentor, and support the development of maintenance team members.
- Communicate effectively with Operations, Quality, and plant leadership to ensure maintenance priorities align with production needs.
- Maintain dependable attendance and set the standard for professionalism and teamwork.
- Support cross-shift communication to ensure equipment reliability and operational continuity.
Safety, Health, Environment & Security (SH&E)
- Follow all Safety, Health, Environment, and Security (SH&E) policies, procedures, and model practices while performing work.
- Participate in safety initiatives including Permit to Work (PTW), JSERA’s, JCC’s, Lockout/Tagout, and machine guarding programs.
- Identify and report unsafe conditions, incidents, and near misses, and assist in implementing corrective actions.
- Support site SH&E programs by participating in safety meetings, audits, inspections, and emergency response drills.
- Promote a strong safety culture while supporting environmental initiatives including waste reduction and regulatory compliance.
